Growing up Rajshel Juhan always had an interest in art and design. She
loved bright bold colors and enjoyed making note cards and posters for
friends. She would create designs on ruled paper, then make copies so
others could have special writing paper. After a series of non-related
jobs, Rajshel realized that design was her true calling and that it was
time to get back to that.
Rajshel attended the Art Institute of Atlanta in 2001 and graduated
with a BFA concentrating in graphic design. As a student she had
several different internships and each one taught her valuable lessons
in design and business. She was also fortunate enough to apprentice at
a local print shop and besides coming home with ink-stained clothes
each day, she learned so much more about printing, things you would
never get out of a book or in a classroom. After graduation, Rajshel
became gainfully employed in the publication business and although it
paid the bills, she had a dream of creating her own unique greeting
cards and stationery for others to enjoy as much as she did.
Jane hancock papers is the realization of that dream. Combining her
love for century-old letterpress with modern
designs, patterns and some funky creatures she was on her way. Jane hancock papers is currently a home-based
studio Using a 1926 Chandler & Price platen press and some good ol' fashion elbow grease to bring the designs to life. Creating stationery no matter if it's a custom job or a new collection is such fun and it's great to see letterpress in
demand once again my goal is to show you a style you may not expect
with this medium. |
